Three audiences, three very different needs
HR administrators
The deepest track, and the one that ends in certification. HR needs to configure and troubleshoot, not just operate.
Reporting managers
Managers need very little, and giving them more is the usual reason adoption stalls. The session covers what they will do weekly.
Employees
Under thirty minutes, mostly on the mobile app, focused on the four things they will actually open the product for.
It is rarely change resistance
When employee self-service adoption is slow, the diagnosis offered is almost always change resistance. In practice it is usually one of two other things. Either the training taught features rather than tasks — so people know the product exists but not what to do with it — or people do not yet trust that the system will produce the right answer.
Both are addressable. Task-based training on real data fixes the first. The second is fixed by the system being right, consistently, for a few cycles — which is why training is scheduled alongside the first payroll run rather than a fortnight before it.
We also record sessions and hand over reference material, because the person who needed the leave-approval walkthrough is often on holiday during the session about leave approvals.
