The design rule
Convenience without loosening the controls
The record is still the record
A decision made in Slack writes to the same approval trail as one made in the platform. Nothing lives only in a chat thread, which is the failure mode this integration has to avoid rather than create.
Routing does not change
Requests still follow your configured approval chain and your real reporting lines. The channel changes; the logic does not.
Sensitive items stay out
Salary detail, grievance tickets and confidential help-desk categories are not pushed into a chat client. The notification says something needs attention; the content stays behind access control.
Faster is the whole point
Approval delay is the most common reason a leave balance or a clearance task blocks a cycle. Most of that delay is a manager not opening another tool.
